Obelisks

Obelisks are towers imbued with cosmic energy that appear on exploration runs. Each variety has a different energy:

  • Yellow obelisks fire a death wave that damages every nearby Vora.
  • Green obelisks open a salvage field that doubles bit, exp, and item drops for Vora inside it.
  • Purple obelisks trigger a spawn surge that doubles the zone’s Vora spawn rate for a timed window.
  • Lightning obelisks grant the pet Chain Lightning for a timed window. Bolts travel with the pet.
  • Slow obelisks apply Slowed to every non-boss Vora in the zone, and every non-boss that spawns, for a tagging window. Bosses keep full speed.
  • Catalyst obelisks activate every other monolith and obelisk on screen at that moment. Red arcs while charging show which towers will fire.

They are separate from reward monoliths. An activated obelisk may also hint toward a nearby uncollected artifact.

  1. Find an obelisk on a planet zone during an exploration run.
  2. Stand inside the charge ring until the fill completes.
  3. The tower fires that kind’s payload, then goes inert (or stays open for a timed window).
  4. The tower stays in place afterward and can still be mined.

With a mining tool equipped, break down an obelisk like other mineable towers. Demolished obelisks drop obsidian chunks into run inventory for crafting.

If the pet is still in the charge ring when mining finishes, that kind’s payload still fires. Instant payloads (yellow death wave, lightning grant) sink the tower right after. Timed tower windows (green, purple, Slow) keep a mined-out tower standing, pulsing, and running its effect until the window ends. Demolition never cuts the window short. A Chain Lightning grant already on the pet is not cut short by demolishing the tower. Slowed already on Vora is not stripped when the Slow window ends or the tower sinks.

Obelisks spawn on manual planet exploration runs. They do not appear on auto runs. Monolith Spawn Rate research raises how often obelisks and monoliths spawn.
