Lightning obelisks

Chain lightning hopping a packed Vora line

Stand in the glowing ring until it finishes charging. The tower grants the pet Chain Lightning, then goes inert. Monolith Bonus Duration research stretches that grant the same way it stretches other timed monolith and obelisk durations. The effect is a status effect on the pet. Its countdown lives on the run HUD chip, the same chip row every other pet status uses, with a lightning-bolt icon. While it lasts, the pet’s attack-range oval draws as a lightning ring instead of the usual attack-range color. Every 0.1 seconds a bolt emits from the pet. The first strike hits a Vora inside that oval. Each later hop then jumps from the last Vora that was hit to another Vora within the same attack-range distance, up to 20 hops, dealing 5 percent of a yellow death wave’s damage on each hop. The chain is not trapped inside the pet’s oval. A packed line can walk the bolt away from the pet in attack-range steps. Two overlapping grants each fire their own bolts, so the pack is struck more often. The pet is never struck. When the status expires the oval returns to normal and the bolts stop.

If the pet is still in the charge ring when a lightning tower finishes mining, Chain Lightning is still granted before the tower sinks. The grant is instant on the tower, so the tower sinks right after. Chain Lightning that already landed on the pet is not cut short by demolishing the tower.
